Intern: 2002-2003
Our family came to GLPC in the summer of 2000 to discern if the Seattle area was where the Lord was calling us to plant a church.
Where were you in your process of ministry development?
We were between our 2nd and 3rd year of MDiv studies at Covenant Theological Seminary.
I think for us, it was important to have an opportunity to be allowed to live and experience the mission field prior to landing. It was incredibly important to be able to have the chance to preach at the churches that were a part of the network at that time. This gave me exposure to PNW congregations and allowed the pastors and members of those churches be a part of my external call to eventually plant a church in Redmond.
Any highlights from your experience?
Any highlights of your experience. I think for me it was important that I got to watch a more established church continue to make an impact on its neighborhood with the gospel of Christ. Being a part of a team/staff also was critical in helping me not feel alone or left to my own ideas. I needed those mentors in my life.
What are you doing now?
I am now the Executive Director of Spokane Youth for Christ which serves 11-19-year-old marginalized youth living in Spokane’s most under-resourced communities.
