Intern: Summer of 2008
Where were you in your process of ministry development?
I was entering my final year of the MDiv degree at Covenant Theological Seminary
Albeit brief, the summer I spent at Trinity Church Seattle (then Green Lake Pres) was immensely helpful. I was able to not only observe but participate in the life of the church in the city. Little did I know, that summer laid the groundwork for me eventually returning to Trinity, some six years later, as Pastor of Worship.
Any highlights from your experience?
The internship specifically challenged me to engage the life of the city. One of the ways this expressed itself was playing at open mic nights. These put me in a roomful of aspiring musicians and poets, all longing to make sense of their brokenness and create beauty in some way.
What are you doing now?
Since 2014 I have been the Pastor of Worship at Trinity Church Seattle. This includes a wide array of things from crafting weekly worship to collaborating with artists, from pastoral care to administering the Sacraments.
